Enzymatic Activity of Isolated Fungi from Flies Bactrocera sp. as Entomopathogenic Fungi Candidate

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the chitinolytic, lipolytic, and proteolytic activities of 5 isolates of entomopathogenic fungi isolated from Bactrocera sp. The research was carried out at the Microbiology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Lampung University. This study used a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with two factorials, type of fungi and the value of the enzymatic index obtained. The results of the enzymatic activity test of the five isolates showed that Nigrospora sp. (IB1) has lipolytic activity, isolates of Penicillium sp. 2 (IB5) has chitinolytic, lipolytic and proteolytic activity. While the isolates of Penicillium sp. 1 (IB2), Phytopthora sp. (IB3), and Gliocladium sp. (IB 4) did not have the activity of all three enzymes. Entomopathogenic fungi from Bactrocera sp. namely, Penicillium sp. 2 (IB5) and Nigrospora sp. (IB1) is suspected to have the potential to be used as a bioinsecticide.
